אודות המרכז
המרכז לחינוך הומניסטי הוקם בשנת 1995, כחלק ממוזיאון בית לוחמי הגטאות, בתמיכת משרד החינוך ובשיתוף פעולה עם מוזיאון השואה בוושינגטון.
המרכז פרץ דרך בגישתו להוראת השואה ובפעילותו החינוכית הייחודית: השואה נלמדת כמשבר היסטורי המזמן עיסוק בדילמות חברתיות ואנושיות בעלות אופי אוניברסלי.
המרכז לחינוך הומניסטי מפתח תהליכים חינוכיים המתמקדים בחיבור ההיסטוריה לחיינו היום, מוביל להבנת חשיבותם של ערכים הומניסטיים ודמוקרטיים ומקנה כלים לשיפוט מוסרי ולאחריות אזרחית.
אדישות לסבלו של האחר או פגיעה בזכויות האדם מסכנות את קיומה של כל חברה. אנו מאמינים כי התבוננות באירועי השואה מעלה שאלות יסוד בנוגע לקיום המין האנושי ולדמות האדם, יכולה לקרב לבבות, לחבר בין אנשים מרקע תרבותי שונה ולהבהיר את המשותף ביניהם.
בית לוחמי הגטאות
בית לוחמי הגטאות ע"ש יצחק קצנלסון למורשת השואה והמרד הוקם על ידי ניצולי שואה והוא אחד המוזיאונים הראשונים מסוגו. מימיו המוקדמים ביקשו מייסדיו למסור את סיפור השואה, תוך התמקדות בעמידה היהודית והכלל אנושית על גווניה הרבים, באפשרות הבחירה העומדת בפני האדם, בניצחון הרוח האנושית ובבניית החיים מחדש במדינת ישראל.
למבקרים מזומנת חוויה החושפת עולם עשיר של רגעי התמודדות, אתגרים, נטילת אחריות וגילויי יוזמה במציאות בלתי אפשרית. התקדמותם במבנה משלבת בין רצף קווי לתנועה סיבובית, כך שסוף והתחלה נוגעים זה בזה. בתנועה הסיבובית משתקפת התפיסה התכנונית כולה – לזכור את החיים שהיו בעבר ולהרהר אחריהם עם צאתנו לחיים החדשים שמחוץ לכותלי המוזיאון.

About the Center
The Center for Humanistic Education was founded in 1995, as part of the Ghetto Fighters’ House Museum, with the support of the Ministry of Education and in cooperation with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.
The Center has a groundbreaking approach to teaching the Holocaust and offers unique educational activities: the Holocaust is taught as a historical crisis that summons us to explore universal social and humanistic dilemmas.
The Center for Humanistic Education develops educational processes that focus on the connection between history and our lives today while promoting a better understanding of the importance of humanistic and democratic values and providing tools for moral judgment and civic responsibility.
Indifference to the suffering of others, or violation of their human rights, endangers the survival of any society. We believe that reflecting deeply on the events of the Holocaust raises fundamental questions for mankind, and can connect people from different cultural backgrounds while highlighting what they have in common.
Ghetto Fighters’ House
The Ghetto Fighters' House, named after Itzhak Katzenelson Holocaust and Jewish Resistance Heritage Museum, was founded by Holocaust survivors and is one of the only museums of its kind. Since the early days, the founders sought to convey the story of the Holocaust, emphasizing resistance, the possibility to choose to revolt, the triumph of the human spirit, and the building of a new life in the State of Israel.
Visitors experience a journey of coping, overcoming challenges, accountability, and taking initiative in the face of an impossible reality. Visitors progress through a structure that is composed of both linear and circular paths, in which the end meets the beginning. The circular movement reflects the intended purpose - to remember and reflect on the lives of the past in our new reality outside the museum walls.
